Embassy bound DNA & New Pix

Yesterday we got a medical update on Devin and some new photos. He is growing so much. We just saw him 4 weeks ago and it is amazing how much he has changed. He weighs 19 lbs and is 26.9 inches. Based on the medical report he is doing very well.

We also got some great news today. Devin's DNA test is done and the results are being sent out to the US Embassy in Guatemala today. Hopefully, they will receive the results by Friday. Then we will officially be waiting for our pink slip from the Embassy.........

DNA @ LabCorp

I got an email from Pat at Labcorp and they received Devin's DNA sample on Friday. They will process the sample which can take up to 7 days. Once the results are done, LabCorp will Fed Ex the results to the US Embassy in Guatemala. Once the results get to the Embassy we will await our pink slip.

We are getting closer to picking up our little one.........

Two, maybe 3, steps Closer!!!!!!

Today I got an email with Devin's new birth certificate. It was great to see our names listed as his madre & padre. After several years of trying to get pregnant, then almost 2 years of going through the adoption process we finally have our son. He is so worth it.

By the way, not only is his birth certificate done but his passport is done and his DNA sample was scheduled for today. We won't know for a few days if he actually had his DNA taken.

Now, we will just wait for the DNA test results and for Labcorp to send the results to the US embassy in Guatemala.

After the results arrive at the Embassy we will await our "pink slip". Our pink slip is our embassy appointment day and time.

Pray for a speedy pink!!!!

Its Official..........

We got word yesterday that Devin's Birthmother signed the final adoption decree and his birth certificate has been ordered. This means that Devin is legally ours. There is no taking him back at this point. He is forever a Buster. YEAH!!! We are beyond estatic......

Here are the next steps

1/ A new birth certificate must be issued noting the adoption and changing Devin's last name
2/ In order for Devin to leave Guatemala, a Guatemalan passport is necessary
3/ The final step is to obtain a visa from the U.S. Embassy so Devin can enter the United States. In order to receive a visa, Devin must be declared in good health by a US Embassy-approved
physician and a DNA test must be done to confirm that Devin is the same baby that we started the process with.
4/ Once the US Embassy receives our documents which include the results of the physical & DNA test they issue “Pink Slip.” This slip is basically an appointment for us to come pick up Devin.

Hopefully, Devin's birth certificate will be in by the end of this week. I know everyone is curious about a timeframe but it is really hard to pinpoint. My best guess is that we will have him home sometime in May if all goes well. I will update this website at least once a week to update you all!

Thank You God

The Buster Family is out of PGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the call tonight from our adoption coordinator. Our case was approved through PGN. I can not tell you the way we are feeling right now. It is like a big weight has been lifted from our shoulders. We hope to have him home within 4-8 weeks.

The next steps are:

1/ Birthmother has to sign off one final time
2/ After she signs off on the adoption Devin's birth certificate will be issued with us as his parents
3/ Devin will have a final DNA test to confirm he is still the same baby we fell in love with 8 months ago
4/ Then we are issued an appointment by the US Embassy to come pick him up
-
Thank you for all your love and support. We will keep you posted.

Guatemala Trip #2

We had a wonderful time in Guatemala. We are so happy to be able to spend this time with Devin. As usual, he was a great baby. We stayed at the Grand Tikal. This is becoming our second home during this process.

Devin got over the cold that he had last time we visited, which was great. Overall, he seems to be a healthy baby. We may of upset his stomach with the stuff we fed him because he had diarrea the last two days we were there. We think it was the baby food. His foster mother cooks for him where we were giving him packaged baby food. I have been worrying sick about this. He didn't seem to have any other symptoms such as a fever or vomiting. Hopefully his foster mother has him back on track.

We took Devin to the pool and he had a blast. He loves the water. I am sure he will have a blast in our pool when he gets home.

Devin's two bottom teeth are in. He is sitting up on his own. He also loves to stand up (with you holding him). He still is very happy. He babbles and giggles all the time. He is still a Daddy's boy.
It was extremely tough leaving him. We are just praying feverishly that he gets approved through PGN like NOW!!! We have been in PGN 6 weeks today.
Here some of the photos.
